MARTOVCE
Blue and gold colour on picture is representing of fertility of Žitný ostrov region in combination of typical needlework of Martovce village. Wedding wreath of Martovce is composed of colourfull flowers, beads, tiny glasses and golden leaves and floral stripes. Only differences were between colour of flowers and other decorations. Under wreath bride used to wear tied up hair with rosemary which has been used as protective smybol. Dress of young bride used to be made of black silk. Wreaths are starting to dissapear some around 1940s. Since 1938 we are able to see wedding wreaths on folk group of “Martosi lakodalmas” exhibitions. Martovce were well known for their special needlework. Aplication of red “batista” on white underlay.
