TURIEC
Floral motives in golden colour are domination of this painting. Flowers are standard paterns of garden of eden picture. Antic motive of virgin as flower in closed garden. Lately incorporated to christian ideology of Virgin Marry as rose in garden of eden. Golden colour is symbolising of gods presence and red as lifegiving energy and love. One of first mentioning came from prussian traveler W. Richter which in 1840s on travels through our land had mentioned “Beautifull women of Turiec are showing their breasts and lovely brown hair tied up into pigtails with colourfull stripes and crowning their heads with golden parta”. Image of this “parta” is shown on painting “Dievča a olejkár” dating in 1820. In late 19th century “parta” is replaced by wreath made of fresh flora. Wreath from painting is made of boxwood conserved in wax and decorated with white sewn cloth stripes. Its replica from first half of 20th century.
